July 4 is about independence at the national level - dissolving the political bands that connect one people to another (the Declaration). Juneteenth is about individual freedom - breaking the shackles of slavery. The words "June" and "nineteenth", as it was on June 19, 1865, when the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas at the end of the American Civil War was ordered.

Juneteenth, officially Juneteenth National Independence Day, is a federal holiday in the United States. Juneteenth is celebrated annually on June 19 to commemorate the ending of slavery in the United States - our Emancipation Day, our Freedom Day - our Juneteenth Independence Day.
